Obit: HOLLIS, John "Cyril"

HOLLIS, John "Cyril" - Age 91, of McGee Street, Springhill, passed away on Thursday, November 22, 2007, in All Saints Hospital, Springhill. Born in Port Howe, Cumberland Co., he was a son of the late John Campbell and Anna Pearl (Letcher) Hollis. He was an adherent of St. Andrews-Wesley United Church, Springhill, and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 17, Springhill. Cyril served in the Canadian Army with the Royal Canadian Mechanical (Engineers) for four years, then with Cecil Letcher and sons, Springhill, for 40 years followed by 11 years as Maintenance Supervisor at Springhill High School. He enjoyed his clocksmith hobby, hunting, fishing, music, family and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, the former Trudy Emberly; son, William "Bill" (Jan) Hollis, Springhill; brother, Alton Hollis, Truro; sister, Lucy Smith, River Hebert; grandchildren, Adam and Ali; great-grandchildren, Chantal and Cameron. He was predeceased by brother, Almer, and sister, Dorothy. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held from 1-2 p.m. Saturday, November 24, followed immediately at 2 p.m. by a memorial service with Rev. David Lloyd-Pearce officiating, both in A.H. Brown Funeral Home, Springhill. Burial in Hillside Cemetery, Springhill. If so desired, donations to a charity of choice would be appreciated.
