IS REPORTED KILLED IN ACTION
Official notification was recently received by Mr. and Mrs. Carl Hughes of
Fox River that their son, J. Benjamin Hughes, 23, was killed in action in
Italy on December 20th. He is survived by his parents; two brothers, Roland
in Oxford and Harold at Fox River; and by two sisters, Delphene, Fox River
and Minnie at Pugwash.

OBITUARY: Karl Hughes
Karl Hughes passed away quietly in his sleep early Wednesday morning, May
29, 1957. Born in Fox River, 67 years ago, a son of the late Benjamin &
Carolyn Hughes, he has resided here all his life and has been an invalid for
the past 12 years. Left to mourn their loss is his wife, the former Maude
Carter of Pugwash; daughters, Minnie and Patricia at home; Mrs. Harold
Dunphy (Dolly) of Fox River; sons, Harold at home; and Roland of
Margaretsville, N.S. One sister Mrs. Richard Yorke, of Fox River also
survives. A son Benjamin was killed in Action in the second World War.
Interment was in the church cemetery. The funeral service was held Friday at
Holy Trinity Church where the deceased was a member, conducted by Rev. W.R.
Anthony of Parrsboro, assisted by the student minister of Port Greville, Mr.
Smith. Interment was in the church cemetery.
