OBITUARY:
Funeral services for the late Ida Mae Hughes of Fox River was held at the
Grace United Church, Port Greville, Tuesday, May 28th. Born
in Advocate 81 years ago, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Silas
Morris, Mrs. Hughes resided in Fox River since her marriage 57
years ago. Only for the past three months due to ill health, she went to
live with her son and daughter-in-law at River Hebert where
she passed away May 26th. Left to mourn their loss is her husband, Frederick
Hughes; one daughter, Evelyn [Mrs. Rexford Pettis),
Amherst; two sons, Alvin, River Hebert, and Arthur of Wolleston, , Mass.,
U.S.A.;Two sisters also remain, Mrs. Clara Dunfield of
Bayfield, N.B. and Mrs. Effie Smith of Parrsboro. The service was in charge
of Rev. D.H. Goss of Parrsboro, with Rev. R. Fenn of River
Hebert and the student minister in charge of Port Greville parish, Mr.
Hatcher assisting. The sisters of Canathe Temple of Port
Greville attended in a body. Mrs. Hughes was one of the oldest members and a
Past Chief of the order. The beautiful floral tributes
showed the esteem in which the deceased was held.
