FREDERICK J. HUGHES
Frederick J. Hughes, 98, of Fox River, Cumberland County, died Friday, March
10, 1972, in Ann's Rest Home, Parrsboro. Born in Fox River, he was the son
of the late John and Jerusha (Holmes) Hughes. Surviving are two sons, Alvin,
River Hebert; Arthur, Bradenton, Fla.; one daughter, Evelyn ( Mrs. Rexford
Pettis ), Amherst; and five grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. The
body rested at Smith's Funeral Home, Parrsboro, where funeral service was
held Sunday at 2:30 p.m., with Rev. Parker Matheson officiating. Burial was
made in the United Church Cemetery, Port Greville.

OBITUARY: Robert W. Hughes
Fox River, March 10th, (1942) - The death of Robert W. Hughes occurred
Friday evening, February 27th, at his home here after a short
illness. He was born in Diligent River seventy-eight years ago, son of the
late John and Jerusha Hughes. He was a man of sterling
character and highly esteemed by all who knew him. He was a member of the
United Church and a valued member of the United Choir for a
number of years; also a member of the Knights of Pythias Lodge. Funeral
services were held at the home on Sunday afternoon with Rev.
Henry Brown, pastor of the United Church and Rev. J.H. Markham of the
Anglican Church officiating, while service at the grave was
conducted by the Knights of Pythias. He is survived by his wife, the former
Florence Knowlton of Advocate; one son, Horace, Kings County
(by a former marriage); also three brothers, Fred, of Fox River; Charles and
John, of Massachusetts.
