Would anyone know who John Benjamin Atkinson's deceased brother, Basil is?
I knew he had a sister, Renovia Katherine Atkinson (1915-____), m/1
William Kenneth Roberts of Parrsboro (1915-1994) and a brother, Cecil
Atkinson (alive in Spryfield in 1968). I have both his parent's obits.
and neither mentions a son, Basil.
John Benjamin Atkinson and my grandfather, Charles Ryerson Winter were
1st cousins. John Benjamin Atkinson's paternal grandmother was Sarah
Almede? Winter/s

ATKINSON, John Benjamin - 93, Salt Springs, Pictou Co., formerly of
Collingwood, Cumberland Co., passed away on Sunday, September 23, 2007, in
Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, following a brief illness. Born in Joggins
Mines, Cumberland Co., he was a son of the late Clarence and Florence (Lamb)
Atkinson. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and
great-grandfather. He loved working with wood, having made many birdhouses.
As a young man, he was employed in the lumbering industry. Following this he
was the rural mail driver, delivering the mail for the Oxford Junction,
Collingwood, Wyvern and Williamsdale areas. Surviving are daughter, Helen A.
MacKay (Alexander "Sandy"), Salt Springs; grandson, Troy A. MacKay (Janet),
Coxheath, Cape Breton; great-granddaughter, Hannah MacKay, Coxheath; sister,
Renovia Roberts, Bowmanville, Ont.; a number of nieces and nephews. He was
predeceased by his wife, the former Frances Leota Colborne; brothers, Basil
Atkinson and Cyril Atkinson. Visitation will be this afternoon and this
evening at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Helen and Sandy MacKay,
with whom he resided for the last 18 years, at 175 Six Mile Brook Rd., Salt
Springs, Pictou Co. Visitation will also be held on Wednesday, September 26,
from 3:30-5:30 and 7-9 p.m. in Allen's Funeral Home, 60 Water St., Oxford.
Funeral service Thursday, September 27, at 3 p.m. in Collingwood United
Church with Rev. Gary MacDougall officiating. Interment will take place in
Collingwood-Wyvern Cemetery. Donations may be made to Aberdeen Hospital
Palliative Care Society, Collingwood United Church Memorial Fund or a
