OBITUARY: Mrs. Emma Frances Desmond
The funeral of Mrs. Emma Frances Desmond, 56, wife of John Desmond of
Parrsboro Roads, was held on Sunday, November 3rd at Parrsboro Roads, Rev.
C.R. Harris officiating. Pallbearers were: William Krumrei, Herbert Krumrei,
Edgar Roberts and Reginald Willigar. Interment was in the Church of England
Cemetery of which church she was a member. The late Mrs. Desmond was a
daughter of the late William Phinney and Rebecca Pettis of Parrsboro Roads,
both of whom are dead. She was married in Parrsboro in 1897 and of that
union, five daughters and one son survive her. They are; Verna, Mrs. Stainer
Willigar; Grace, Eva, Dorothy, Veronica and Maurice. The deceased is also
survived by her husband; two sisters, Mrs. Daniel F. McNeil, Lynn, Mass.;
and Mrs. Ralph E. Selig, of Lunenburg, N.S.; also, five brothers, Alvin,
Bradford, Mayford, Percy and Doane, all of Parrsboro. The death of the late
Mrs. Desmond occurred with startling suddenness, for although Mrs. Desmond
had been in poor health for some time, she had been in Highland View
Hospital only one day before she passed away.
