Elisha MILLER was elected as Chief at a meeting of the Oxford Fire

One hundred fifty-five men have left the Springhill coal mines during
the past two weeks and 83 miners have retired on pension.

Eleven teams are hauling gravel from the pit opposite Murray Thompson's
house and graveling Lower Main Street.

Salt Springs; Elsie C. Peterson, Port Howe; William S. Hollis (Barbara),
Lower Sackville; sister Ivy Murray, BC; brother Alfred Chatfield
(Celesta), Woodstock, ON. Predeceased by her stepfather William
Southgate; sisters Dorothy Sears, Elsie Corkish, Olive Wilson; brother
Claude Chatfield; half-sister Gladys Long; half-brothers William and
Laurie Southgate; daughter-in-law Gloria Hollis; son-in-law Robert Peterson.


ATKINSON, Charles William "Bill", 80, Springhill, Sunday, June 17,
2007. Born in Springhill, son of the late Charles Arthur and Martha
Jane (Roney) Atkinson. Survived by daughters Beverly (Allen) Stotz,
Fall River and Arlene Atkinson, Springhill. Predeceased by his wife
Bonnie Ann (Brennan) Atkinson; brother Herbert.

ARSENAULT, Borden Joseph, 73, Amherst, Sunday, June 17, 2007. Born in
Amherst, son of the late Clarence and Martha (Purdy) Arsenault.
Survived by his son David (Janet), Brookdale; daughters Bonnie Arsenault
(Michael Greene), Fort Lawrence; Cindy (Paul) Allen, Pugwash; Marlene
(Roger) Crossman, Sackville, N.B, and their mother Gail. Special friend
Audrey White; brothers Billy, Pictou; Freddie (Sarah), Truemanville, and
Laurie (Cindy), Northport; twin sisters Rose (Ron) Chapman, Brookdale,
and Marie (Dennis) Smith, Ontario. Predeceased by brothers Victor and
