Obit: MARTIN, Douglas Hugh

MARTIN, Douglas Hugh - 88, Gables Lodge, Amherst, formerly of Springhill, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 22, 2007, in the lodge, with his family by his side. Born November 11, 1918, in Springhill, he was a son of the late Owen Sr. and Mina (Bourgeois) Martin. Surviving are his son, Jack (Bonnie), Springhill; grandchildren, Jeffrey, Kristopher, Megan, and Ashley; brother, Owen Martin Jr., Springhill; sisters, Ruth Davis, Springhill; Dorothy MacDonald, Truro; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Florence O'Brien; brother, Malcolm; sister, Theresa Dujay. Cremation has taken place under the direction of A.H. Brown Funeral Home, Springhill. Funeral mass will be held 11 a.m. Monday, August 27, in St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Springhill, with Father David MacDonald officiating. Burial in North Street Roman Catholic Cemetery, Springhill. If so desired, donations to St. John's Roman Catholic Church or a charity of choice would be appreciated.
