Newcomb�s. The spelling of their surname varies constantly and keeps me
on my toes.

-Miss Gertrude Oxley, who has been visiting her sister, Mrs. H.T. Smith
returned to Canso on Saturday.
-Miss Marie Fullerton spent last week in Amherst, the guest of her
friend, Miss Pugsley.
-Miss Clara Kirkpatrick spent the Christmas holidays in Londonderry.
-Mr. Bedford Adams was home from Mahone Bay for New Years.
-Rev. John Johnson and Mrs. Johnson of Maccan, spent a few days in town
last week with Dr. J.A. and Mrs. Johnson.
-Mr. E. Holmes, of the Canadian Bank of Commerce staff, spent Xmas at
his home in Truro.
-Mrs. A.W. Copp went to Halifax last week to spend the remainder of the
winter. Miss Kathleen Copp has gone with her to take a position.
-Mr. Cyril Callow spent last week with relatives in Oxford.
-Dr. Douglas Dyas, who has been visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. H.

Dyas, returned to Eastport on Tuesday.
-Mrs. Anthony McLean came from Amherst on Saturday to visit her parents,

Rev. J.E. and Mrs. Warner.
-Mr. Ralph McDade, who has been employed as a railway mail clerk on the
Ocean Limited, arrived home on Saturday.
-Miss Marie Jeffers and Miss Janet Fullerton, who are students in the A.

Class at Truro Academy, spent the Christmas holidays at their home in
Halfway River.
-Mrs. Varley B. Fullerton with her little daughter, left on Wednesday
for New York to visit her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Trahey.
-Mrs. William Gratto is visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James
Thompson in Shediac.
-Mrs. Milford Canham spent a few days last week with her parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Lavers in Southampton.
-Mr. James C. Gilbert arrived home from Buffalo last week to spent the
winter with his family.
-Miss Quinn of Canaan was the guest of Mrs. D.A. Lavers last week.
-Master Horace Fulton is visiting his siter, Mrs. C.E. Harris, in
Dartmouth.
-The funeral of the late Capt. Henry Llewelyn took place from the
residence of his son, Capt. John Llewelyn, on New Years Day.
-Misses Marie Duffy and Lauris Newcombe have returned to their schools
in Valley Road and Upper Nappan respectively.
-Miss Ada Minahan is visiting at her home in East Hansford.
-Mr. Harry Robinson arrived home from Vancouver last week to visit his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Robinson, Western Ave.
-Mr. Jesse Fullerton of Halfway River spent a few days in town last week

with his cousin, Mr. Carmen Fullerton.
-Mrs. F. Lawson Jenks returned on Monday from a visit to relatives in
Great Village.
-Mr. and Mrs. George Grant of New Glasgow were in town on Saturday.
-Mr. Wylie Baird of Nappan spent a few days in town this week with his
sister, Mrs. P.L. Spicer.
-Mrs. Edgar Bigelow and children spent the Christmas holidays with
relatives in Maccan.
-A pretty wedding took place at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Eldon
McColl, Upper Main St., on Christmas Eve, when their eldest daughter,
Teresa was united in marriage to Mr. Samue, Bradeen of Milo, Me. The
ceremony was preformed by the Rev. J.E. Warner. The bride was
becomingly gowned in navy blue silk with cream lace trimmings.
-The home of Capt. and Mrs. F.A. Morrison, Riverside, was the scene of a

happy event on January 1 when their second daughter Gladys Ena became
the bride of Capt. Edward Trefry of Summerville, N.S. Rev. B. J. Porter
was the officiating clergyman. The bride wore a stylish costume of navy
blue cloth and black hat with ostrich plumes. Capt. and Mrs. Trefry
left immediately after the ceremony for Summerville.
-The death occurred in West Roxbury, Mass. on Dec. 17th of Miss Mamie
Butler, niece of the late Rev. T.J. Butler, formerly parish priest here.
