Obit: HATFIELD, Edgar Hilton "Shorty"

HATFIELD, Edgar Hilton "Shorty" - 87, Halifax, passed away August 6, 2007, at home. Born in Parrsboro, he was a son of the late Edgar and Vedora (Canning) Hatfield. He was employed for 45 years with Eastern Canada Towing as the chief engineer on tug boats. Shorty enjoyed spending time at the family cottage in Two Islands, Parrsboro. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Surviving are his wife of 66 years, Leona "Mona" (Babineau); sons, Hilton, Lesmere, Kevin; daughter, Jo-Ann; grandchildren, Michael and Steven Hatfield, Ian Fraser. He was predeceased by son, Wayne; brothers, Horace, Allison, Larry, Cyril; sisters, Althea and Camilla. Visitation will take place 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday in Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd., Halifax, where funeral service will take place 11 a.m. Friday. Burial will follow in Oakridge Memory Gardens. A reception will follow in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations to Canadian Cancer Society.
