Obit: LEWIS, George Edward

LEWIS, George Edward - 78, Fenwick, Cumberland Co., passed away peacefully in the Halifax Infirmary, QEII, on Thursday, July 19, 2007, with his family by his side. Born in Hartford, Cumberland Co., he was a son of the late J. Archibald "Archie" and C. Winnifred "Winnie" (Carter) Lewis. He was employed with CKDH radio station in Amherst as an engineer from 1958 until the time of his retirement in 1988. He was an adherent of Fenwick United Church. He loved doing woodwork and carving things out of wood. Surviving are his wife, the former Isabell Mae Crawford; daughter, Karen M. Lewis (Jeff), Dartmouth; son, Calvert E. Lewis (Lynn), Truemanville, Cumberland Co.; grandchildren, Bethany Burris (Gary), Bridgetown; Alyssa Gouchie (Percy), Dartmouth; Calvert Lewis Jr. (Cindy), Springhill; Jesse Lewis, Halifax; great-grandchildren, Zackery Burris and Koryssa Burris, both of Bridgetown; sisters, Frances Rushton, Oxford; Beulah Langille, Wallace; Edith Bailey, Dartmouth; brothers, Gerald Lewis (Ida), Oxford; Russell Lewis (Lauris), Amherst; Cecil Lewis, Pugwash; a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by brother, Stanley Lewis. Cremation has taken place at the request of the deceased. A graveside service will be held on Sunday, July 22, at 2 p.m. in Riverside Cemetery, Wallace River, with Rev. Heber Colbourne and Pastor Morris Mills officiating. Donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or a charity of your choice.
