Reid, Richard Vincent, Died peacefully at Saint John Regional
Hospital the morning of July 15, 2007.
Richard was born in Saint John New Brunswick, son of the late Charlie
and Maggie Reid.
He graduated from the Saint John Vocational High School and served
in the army during World War II after which he settled in Amherst
Nova Scotia with his wife Marion.
He worked for many years as paymaster of Robb Engineering followed by
employment with the Town of Amherst as Superintendent of Streets and
Paymaster. His many interests over the years included teaching
skating and coaching hockey, baseball and bowling for youth and for
the blind. Richard was an avid sportsman, playing baseball and hockey
in his younger years and being a competitive bowler for many years.
He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, the Knights of Columbus
and the Big Brothers'-Big Sisters' Organization.
Richard was predeceased by his beloved wife Marion (Henwood),
six brothers, three sisters and one great-grandson, Christopher Hull.
He is survived by one brother Philip
He was much loved and will be greatly missed by daughters
Karen Reid and
Marlene Hull, by son-in-law Leon Hull,
grandchildren Michael Hull and Nathalie McGrath
and by great-grandsons Mitchell and Joshua McGrath and Kolten, Kody
and Chase Hull.
Visitation will be at Castle 'Fallsview Chapel' Funeral Home, 309
Lancaster Avenue (634-1701) on Wednesday, July 18th from 2-4P.M. and
7-9 P.M.
A mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Rose of Lima
Church on Thursday July 19 at 10:00 o'clock followed by a reception
at the Fallsview Family Reception Center.
