The Oxford Pioneer Heritage Club was presented with a grant toward the
expansion of its Ellis St. Hall.

Vic MARCHANT, former publisher of the The Oxford Journal, visited Mrs.
Nogler's Grade 4 class on May 15 with a photocopy of the first Journal
and giving information on the Journal's 100's year history.

Wednesday, May 27, 1987.

Newton and Dorothy WOOD who operated Wood's Hotel for 27 years and
Wood's Rest Home since 1978 have sold their business and are retiring.
New owners are Herbert and Brigette HOCHHOLD.

Wendell LITTLE who has operated Little's Store, Wentworth for the past
21 years, has sold the business to Bobby and Narda MADORE, Wentworth.

Mr. Douglas DONCASTER was the recipient of three plaques on the eve of
his retirement from the Oxford Volunteer Fire Department last Saturday
evening.

Damage is estimated at $17,000 to $20,000 in a fire which damaged the
upstairs of a home belonging to George SMITH, Birchwood Rd., on May 21.

The schoolhouse at North Mt. Pleasant was destroyed by fire on May 19.
South Mt. Pleasant School which has been closed for several years will
be reopened to accommodate 14 pupils up to Grade 6.

Kathleen and Carolyn BRAGG and Ann LOCKHART made an excellent showing at
the Saint John Music Festival last week.

Among the graduates from Mt. Allison University are Gwendolyn Elizabeth
MACDONALD, Pugwash; Winston Charles ANGEVINE and Eleanor Marilyn
HICKMAN, Oxford.

The cement for the concrete bibs are being built at Pugwash for the new
PEI Ferry Terminal at Cape Tormentine. Over 100 men are employed.

Thompson, B.R. Hall, George McKim, Arthur Smith.

Oxford Excelsior Mills is operating.

Harbour, son of the late Peter and Daisy (Smith) Peterson. Survived by
his wife Maude (Walsh) Peterson; sons Wayne (Carole) Peterson, Angus,
ON, and Wendell (Sandy) Peterson, Toronto, ON; daughter Elaina (Brett)
Kaizer, Port Howe; sister, Thelma, Calgary; brother Alden, Port Hope,
