Dear Gerry: I hope you don't mind me writing to you on another topic.
I'm a Fahey and they seem to have married back&forth with the Mattinsons quite a lot.
In the 1901 census
a.. Nancy Fahey Mattinson [b1839] and her husband Francis Mattinson [b1829]
b.. Household #122 which included Joseph, Wilbert, Gilbert, Edmond, Jeremiah and grandson Wesley
c.. appear to be living "right next door" to Nancy's younger brother
d.. J Philip Fahey [b1843]
e.. wife Catherine, sons William [b1880] -- my grandfather -- and Albert [b1886]
f.. in Household #121.
Nancy's youngest brother John Hammond Fahey [b1852] married Jane Mattinson [b1857].
Nancy's nephew through J Philip was Albert [above]. His son Alden married Laura Jane Mayne whose mother was Rebecca J Mattinson [1884].
In the registry of Gilbert's birth [1876], Nancy's name is spelled Fahie.
On Gilbert's Marriage Certificate [1920], her name is spelled Foy.
On her own Death Cert her mother is listed [presumably by Gilbert as he is the Informant] Nancy Hannington or Harrington when it ought to be Sarah Jane Hammond from Mailtland, Hants Co.
I'm wondering if Nancy's father Philip Fahey married twice. Or whether Gilbert was a bit vague about his grandmother's name. And guessed.
Any light you might be able to throw on this would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks
Susan Fahey Chamberlin
