Obit: RUSHTON, Gerald Donald

RUSHTON, Gerald Donald - 68, Salmon River, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2007, in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born in Westchester on September 29, 1938, he was a son of Ida (Rushton) Rushton, East Village, and the late Eldon Rushton. He was a loving husband and father, and a special grandfather, who enjoyed tinkering in his shed and being around his many friends. Gerald worked as a mechanic at Eastern Transport for over 11 years, and then for the next 12 years, went to Commercial Safety College in Masstown, to work in maintenance, retiring in 1991 due to ill health. He loved hockey, especially the Truro Junior A Bearcats, proudly watching his grandson play. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 49 years, the former Marilyn Eagles; sons, Donald (Beth) Chipman, New Brunswick; Deverne (Valerie), Londonderry; Rodney, Thrums, B.C.; daughter, Heather, Truro; grandchildren, Jessica, Jamie-Lynn, Cheyenne, Jayden and James; sisters, Myrna Clusiaux, Carolyn Rushton, both of Londonderry; Jean (Carl) MacDonald, Truro Heights; brother-in-law, Bill (Bonnie) Eagles, Kitchener, Ont. Cremation has taken place. At Gerald's request, there will be no visitation. A graveside service will be held in Watson Cemetery at a later date. Family flowers only. Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia would be greatly appreciated. Arrangements are under the direction of Arimathea Funeral Co-operative, Upper Musquodoboit.
