Hi Clemm
Thank you for taking the time to respond to my questions about the Apple
River Cemetery. Very interesting. It really is sad when old cemeteries are
allowed to disappear that way. A lot of our family histories have gone as a
result.
Can you tell me where the name Turple Hill comes from? Another reader saw my
message and wrote asking me if I knew. Her maiden name was Turple. It would
be nice to be able to send that information back to her.
At this time I am not sure if I have a connection with Apple River or not.
lol! I remember my parents and grandparents speaking about Apple River, but
do not remember the context of those conversations. I was too young at the
time to be interested, and now that I want the information I can't ask
anymore. All six of those graves are in Hillside Cemetery, Springhill. I am
unsure where my great grandparents are buried or any family members prior to
them.
My husband and I will be in the Colchester and Cumberland County areas for
about a week later this month and I plan to go into some of the cemeteries
to see if there are any of our family names in any of them. I have gone
through the
http://www.rootsweb.com/~nscumber/cemetery/index.html
website and marked all the cemeteries that have any of my family names
listed, but some don't have listings yet. Apple River is one of those
without a listing. Just in case you are familiar with the names in the Apple
River cemetery, I am looking for
Bird, Thompson, Marsh, Brownell, Rector, Henwood, Pugsley, Pettygrew
Fraser, McCormick, Herritt, Brown, Dixon, Payne and Holt
If you happen to know if any of these can be found in Apple River I would
really appreciate knowing.
Again, thanks for the information.
Have a great day!
Ruth
