Obit: MacLEOD, Malcolm Hugh

MACLEOD, MALCOLM HUGH (1933 - 2006) Born in Springhill, NS, the only child of Duncan and Edna (MacPherson) MacLeod. He passed away at the Dr Everett Chalmers Hospital in Fredericton, NB on Dec. 24, 2006, with his daughters by his side. Malcolm is survived by his two daughters, Helen Dow and Heather MacLeod (Stephen MacDougall), and a granddaughter, Kate Dow. He served in the 2nd Battalion Black Watch, RHR, and earned the rank of Lieutenant before leaving to pursue a career in education. Malcolm had a long and distinguished career as a teacher and principal in Fredericton area schools. He was active in the New Brunswick Teachers Association throughout his career, serving on District 26 Committees and Executive and in the Provincial Association as Director, Vice-President and President (1987- 1989). Malcolm enjoyed his retirement during which he pursued his interests in gardening and golf. He will be missed by his children, his many friends and his golfing pals. Visitation will be held on Thursday, Dec. 28 at York Funeral Home on Brookside Drive from 6 - 9 pm. A memorial service will be held on Friday, Dec. 29 at 2 pm from the York Funeral Home's T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel with Rev. Bob Jones officiating. Following the service, a reception will be held at the New Brunswick Teachers Federation building on Montgomery Street. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the CNIB, or the Arthritis Society. Personal condolences my be offered through www.yorkfh.com.
