MELANSON, Beatrice Louise - Surrounded by her family, Beatrice Louise
Melanson, age 84, passed away in Gables Lodge on Thursday, October 26, 2006.
Born in River Hebert, she was a daughter of the late James and Matilda
(Burke) White. Beatrice was the last surviving member of her immediate
family. She spent most of her life in River Hebert before moving to Amherst.
Her husband and children were most important in her life. She loved to make
people smile and laugh, enjoyed bingo, scratch tickets and walks in the rain
when she was able. She made many friends while living at Lakeside Manor.
Beatrice is survived by daughters, Shirley (James) Brooks and Mary Lee
(Layton) Melanson, both of Amherst; Eleanor (Sidney) Haines, Fredericton;
sons, Garnet (Lorna), River Hebert; Lonnie (Pearl), Amherst; Richard
(Lorna), Calgary; Timmy (Charlene), Enfield; daughter-in-law, Dolly,
Mississauga, Ont.; many grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. She
is also survived by her adopted family at Gables Lodge. Beatrice was
predeceased by her husband, Eugene; daughter, Rose Marie; son, David;
sisters, Mable Crossman, Elvena Gould, Viola Walker, Marjorie Keogh, Ida
Belliveau, Mary Edwards; brothers, William, Chester, Alfred, and Leo. Her
family will receive visitors in Campbell's Funeral Home, 98 Church St.,
Amherst (667-9906), on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be
held on Monday, October 30, at 10 a.m. in Campbell's Chapel with Father
David MacDonald officiating. Following the reception in Campbell's Funeral
Home, interment will take place in St. Denis Cemetery, Minudie. Family
flowers only. Donations made to Gables Lodge to purchase special tympanic
thermo-scan thermometers in memory of our mother would be greatly
