Obit: MAYNES, Mary [RICHARDSON]

Mary Maynes HALIFAX, NB - Maynes, Mary Augusta- After 94 wonderful years shared with her family and friends - the family of Mary announce her passing on September 30, 2006 at Northwood Care in Halifax, Nova Scotia. In her final days Mary received visits from her family and friends and spent her time preparing us all for her passing. Mary was born on July 1, 1912 in Baie Verte, New Brunswick. The only child of Hattie and Henry Richardson she married Tom Maynes and they enjoyed 56 years of marriage prior to Tommy's death in 1993. Mary's life was accomplished as she graduated from the Ladies College at Mount Alison University and then ventured into business. Mary owned a hair salon and then a ladies clothing store, Mary's Dress Shop, in Sackville, New Brunswick. Mary was predeceased by her only child, Sharon Coates-Huffman and grandson, Mitchell Beal. She is survived by her granddaughter, Kim Slack and husband, Stephen Slack of Bridgewater; and grandson, Shawn Coates of Halifax. Mary's pride and joy were her great grandchildren, Brennen, Zachary, Mallory and Madison. Mary was surrounded by many friends and family whom she considered very special in her life included in this family was Randy Beal whom she considered her " little boy". Mary was active for many years as a golfer at the Amherst Golf and Country Club and the Sackville Golf and Country Club. In the winter months she curled with the several groups at the Sackville Curling Club. Mary volunteered at the Moncton Hospital for more than ten years working at the Pantry and in the Newborn Hearing Screening Program. Mary considered Sackville, New Brunswick her home . She also lived in Amherst, Nova Scotia and Moncton, New Brunswick. In 2002 Mary moved to Nova Scotia to live with her granddaughter, Kim and family. Mary's life will be celebrated in a memorial service at Jones Funeral Home, Sackville, New Brunswick (364-1300) on Friday, October 6 at 11 a.m. If so, desired donations may be made to Northwood Care ( 4 Manor) where Mary received the highest quality care during the last six months of her life. www.jonesfuneralhome.ca
