ELLSWORTH, George Richard - 70, Princess Street, Springhill, passed away Friday, March 31, 2006, in All Saints Hospital, Springhill. Born in Springhill, he was a son of the late James and Katherine (Arseneau) Ellsworth. In his earlier years, George was employed with the Springhill Coal Mines until 1959. He moved to the United States where he resided until retiring back to Springhill in 1995-1996. He enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening, the outdoors, and especially his family and friends. He is survived by his companion of 10 years, Angela (Hayes) Pettigrew; brother, David (Jeanette) Ellsworth, Toronto, Ont.; sisters, Monica (Doug) Hill, Halifax; Ann (Tony) Terry, Oxford; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brother, James; stepbrother, Kenneth Grey, and sisters, Margaret and Vivian. Cremation has taken place under the direction of A.H. Brown Funeral Home, Springhill. A graveside committal service will be held 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 8 in St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Cemetery, North Street, Springhill, Father David MacDonald officiating. If so desired, donations made to Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
