Obit: WOOD, Lawrence Archibald

WOOD, Lawrence Archibald - 81, Hansford, Cumberland Co., passed away peacefully on Monday, March 27, 2006, in Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Amherst, with his family by his side. Born in Mount Pleasant, Cumberland Co., he was a son of the late George E. and Anna B. (Nelson) Wood. He spent his lifetime as a self-employed mechanic and trucker. He loved to hunt and fish and was a lover of the outdoors. He was an avid storyteller. He was a devoted husband and father. Surviving are his companion, Ola C. Lockhart; children, Paul Wood (Wanda), Hansford; Vickie Johnson (Bruce), East Hampton, Mass.; Beth Zurkan (Dean), Ancaster, Ont.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy M. Moore, Oxford; a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Elsie Irene Rushton; brother, Pearl E. Wood. Visitation this afternoon and this evening with a funeral service at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 30, both in Allen's Funeral Home, 60 Water St., Oxford, Rev. Edgar Patriquin officiating. Interment will take place in Oxford Pine Grove Cemetery. Donations to Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre Palliative Care or charity of your choice.
