OBIT - WELLS, Albert Lewis, May 1920

OBITUARY

Apohaqui, May 29 - The death of Albert Lewis WELLS occurred at a late
hour on Thursday night at his home in this village. He had enjoyed his
usual health until within an hour of his demise, when he suffered a
severe pain in the region of the heart; his death followed almost
immediately. The late Mr. Wells was the youngest of the family of the
late Lewis and Susan Freeze Wells, of Baie Verte, Westmorland County and
a grandson of the late Hon. Samuel Freeze, of Penobsquis. He was born
on March 27, 1846 and the greater part of his life was spent in his
native county of Westmorland having been a resident of this village only
since October last. He was twice married. His first wife was Miss
Eliza Copp, of Baie Verte, and the second, Mrs. Louise Fenwick of this
place, to whom he was married on October 14, 1919 and since then has
been a retired citizen of this village where he has won many friends.
The late Mr. Wells was a gentleman of the old school, upright and
intellectually above the average. In musical circles he will be much
missed, his knowledge of music fitting him for an efficient choir leader
and during his brief residence here, he ably assisted in the Methodist,
Presbyterian and Baptist choirs. The nearest of kin are his wife, one
daughter, Mrs. E.W. Somers, of Nakusp (B.C.), one son, B.F. Wells of
Baie Verte; one sister, Mrs. Woodford Purdy, of Amherst; two brothers
Thompson Wells and George Wells in Nebraska, and four grandchildren.
The body was taken to Baie Verte for interment. A funeral service was
held on Friday evening at his late residence. Rev. L.J. Leard conducted
the service and was assisted by Rev. C. Saunders Young.
