OUDERKIRK, Richard S.

OUDERKIRK, Richard S. - 90, Lower Sackville, died October 10, 2005, in QEII Health Sciences Centre, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Joggins March 29, 1915, he was totally dedicated to his family. He was a veteran of the Second World War, having served then and later until his retirement in 1965 with the Royal Canadian Airforce Police. He was a charter member and the first president of Malagash Legion. He worked for many years in the Malagash Salt Mine before and after the war and spent his last working years in hotel security in Ontario. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Dorothy of 62 years. He was living in Lower Sackville with his daughter, Betty (Joe) and is also survived by sons, Duane "Dick" (Cathy), Porter's Lake; Brian (Linda), Mississauga, Ont.; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; nephew and close confidant, Ronald Hickey, Malagash; as well as other nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Atlantic Funeral Home, Lower Sackville. There will be no visitation. Memorial service will be held Friday, October 14, at 2 p.m. in Malagash United Church. Burial will be in South Shore Cemetery on the same date. Donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
