A new bell at Oxford Baptist Church was used for the first time on
Sunday. Although built about 50 years ago, the church never had a bell.

Among servicemen being welcomed home after service overseas are Major
J.A. LANGILLE, Hon. Capt. Charles H. MACLEAN, Pte. Howard EMBREE, Pte.
Clarence D. WALLACE, all of Oxford; Cpl. Lawrence O. KING, Hansford;
Fus. George ADSHADE, Birchwood, and Pte. Rawleigh THOMPSON, Little River.

Drilling for oil at Nappan, which began last spring, reached a depth of
6,500 feet when loss of equipment in the drill hole had made it
necessary to start a new hole. The Sun Oil Co. expects to bore 15,000
feet and feels confident there is oil in this area. (No oil was
discovered, but the huge body of salt found has since resulted in the
establishment of the huge salt plant at Nappan.)

in Henderson Settlement, daughter of the late Gabriel and Minnie
(WOODLAND) HENDERSON. Predeceased by husband, Clarence in 1978.

and predeceased by Vaughn, Lyle, Myron, and Audrey.

VENIOTT, Roxanna Eileen, 90, Springhill, Friday, December 9, 2005. Born
in Southampton, daughter of the late Arthur and Laura (CHURCHILL)
RECTOR. Predeceased by husband Otto Dan VENIOTT. Children - Maynard
RECTOR, and Robert VENIOTT. Predeceased by siblings - Bessie Elizabeth,
Leonard and Lloyd.

PURDY, Kenneth Allison, 72, Tatamagouche, Tuesday, December 6, 2005.
Born in Malagash, son of Rosella (MATTATALL) PURDY, Ontario, and the
late Charles PURDY. Wife - Frances BEDDING. Children - John, Kenneth,
and predeceased by daughter, Rosella. Siblings - George, Dennis, Irene,
Judy, and Minnie.
