CHAPMAN (nee Smith), Frances

CHAPMAN (nee Smith), Frances - 89, Amherst, passed away Thursday, September 18, 2003, in Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Upper Nappan. Born in Amherst, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin and Mary Jane (Bickerton) Smith. Frances was a member of First Baptist Church, Amherst, and a treasurer of the Mother's Association. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 10, Amherst. She is survived by daughters, Barbara (George) Brown-Warden, Amherst; Norma (Neil) MacGregor, Tidnish, N.B.; Beverley (Gerry) Sears, Amherst; grandchildren, Terri DesBarres, Amherst; Michael Brown, Moncton; Tracy Miller, Saint John, N.B.; Wayne Smith, Saskatoon, Sask.; Tammy Chitty, Truro; step-granddaughter, Shannon Sears, Halifax; seven great-grandchildren; special nieces, June Damery, Audrey and Kim Jones, Amherst; many other nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Frances was predeceased by her husband, Norman Charles Chapman; son, Gordon in infancy; sister, Lucy Damery; brothers, Joe, Edgar, Benny; half-sisters, Letha, Nora and Cassie; half-brother, Harold. Her remains are resting in Campbell's Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst, with visiting 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today. Funeral service will be held 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Campbell's Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst, Rev. Byron Corkum officiating. Interment will take place in Amherst Cemetery.
