Re: Winnie in Pine Grove Cemetery

Kathryn:

Thanks for the confirmation of headstone transcriptions. It's a great help.

As it turns out, Winnie B. (Lewis) Cochrane (Mrs. William Alex Cochrane) is
a possible half-sister to Hildred Amy Stiles, Winnie's birth mom. Winnie's
mom, Alphretta Hoar m/1 a Lewis; m/2 Almon Edgar Stiles in 1888.

Herbert Chester Allen from Port Greville, N.S. m/1 Hildred Amy Stiles from
Dorchester, N.B. on 14 Nov 1912. He was reportedly killed in the States from
"a high rigger accident" two weeks before Winnie was born on 22 Dec 1913 in
Boston, Mass. Winnie was raised in Oxford, N.S. by the Coshrane's who were
connected to her mother. Winnie's birth parents are buried in Dorchester
Cemetery, Dorchester, N.B. while her adoptive parents are buried in Pine
Grove Cemetery, Oxford, N.S.

You can now see how she got her name, Winnie Lewis (Allen) Cochrane.
