~WEATHERBEE, Basil Aubrey - 74, Drummond Street, Springhill, passed away suddenly on Monday, May 2, 2005, surrounded by his family, in Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Upper Nappan. Born in Westchester, Cumberland Co., he was a son of the late Lemuel and Susan (Ettinger) Weatherbee. Basil retired from the Canadian Armed Forces in 1971 and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 17, Springhill. He was a quiet man who enjoyed doing puzzles, playing cards, talking to his friends, and who loved his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, the former Betty Harroun; son, Derrick (Jeanne Gray) Weatherbee, Amherst; daughters, Cheryl (Ronald) LeBlanc, Springhill; Terry (Glenn MacLean) Weatherbee, Dartmouth; Donna (Bobby) Dwyer, Maccan; grandchildren, Jennifer, Nick, Andrea, Bobby, Shauna, and Earl; great-grandchildren, Jonathan, Zackary, and Kylie; brothers, Percy (Johanna) Weatherbee, Dorchester, N.B.; sisters, Georgie Little, Wentworth; Nellie Kilbride and Muriel "Cookie" (Wyman) Purdy, both of Fredericton, N.B.; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Donald and Lionel; sisters, Anna, Thelma, Beulah, Louise, and Jean. Cremation has taken place under the direction of A.H. Brown Funeral Home, Springhill. By request, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or Lung Association of Nova Scotia would be greatly appreciated. Basil will be sorrowfully missed by his family and friends.
