OBIT - TREEN, Elizabeth, 1944
OBITUARY
MALAGASH, Jan. 17 - The death of Mrs. Elizabeth TREEN, which occurred at
her home here on Monday, Jan. 9, came as a shock to her friends,
although the deceased had been in falling health for some months past.
She had attained the age of 76 years. Born in England, she came here as
a young girl, and was taken to the home of Mr. and Mrs. John McInnis,
Wallace Ridge, where she remained until a short while before her
marriage to Mr. Howard Treen, who met death some years later while
binding grain in the West. From this union, there was a family of ten
children, Arthur, on the homestead; Beldon, who was killed in action
during World War I; Ira, Burton, who also died some years later from
affect of gas, received while in action in the last war; Henry and the
daughters, Rosina, widow of Colin McKenzie, Helen, Hazel, and Lillian,
wife of Mitchell Byers; and Wilfred. The deceased was a kind and loving
mother and wife, who will be greatly missed throughout the district
where during the closing years of her life she acted as a practical
nurse and housekeeper wherever her duty called her. In religion she was
a former Methodist. The funeral services were conducted on Wednesday
afternoon, Jan. 13, with Rev. J. Sulston officiating. Many beautiful
floral tributes were in evidence bearing their silent messages of love
and sympathy.
