COLBORNE, Eugene Allan - 84, Oxford, formerly of Collingwood, Cumberland Co., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 15, 2005, in Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Amherst, with his family by his side. Born in Wyvern, Cumberland Co., he was a son of the late John Wylie and Mary Augusta (Stonehouse) Colborne. He was an adherent of Collingwood United Church and as a young man he was employed in the farming and lumbering industries. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a crusher operator with Tidewater Construction Company for 27 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a lover of the outdoors. He also loved a good game of cards, and he was an avid gardener. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He is survived by his wife, the former Marion E. Skidmore; daughter, Elaine D. Colborne, Oxford; son, Eric R. Colborne (Ruby), River Philip, Cumberland Co.; grandchildren, Alan Colborne (Charlene), Collingwood; Crystal Rushton (Tim), Oxford; Julie Mitchell (Andrew), Oxford; Jody Mattinson, Moncton, N.B.; great-grandchildren, Morgan Rushton, Cole Rushton and Hilary Rushton, all of Oxford; Jenna Colborne and Katlyn Colborne, both of Collingwood; stepdaughter, Rhonda McManaman (Ian), Moncton, N.B.; stepsons, Rev. David Skidmore (Peggy), Medicine Hat, Alta.; Brian Skidmore (Sheena), Oxford; stepgrandchildren, Kara Skidmore and Keely Skidmore, both of Medicine Hat, Alta.; Raelyn Skidmore, Troy Skidmore and Drew Skidmore, all of Oxford; Tristan McManaman, Moncton, N.B.; a number of nieces and nephews; cousin, Edna L. Sweet, Amherst. He was predeceased by daughter, E. Diane Mattinson in 2000; grandson, Anthony Todd Colborne in infancy; sisters, Fern Colborne in childhood and Frances L. Atkinson; brothers, Walter M. Colborne and Eric P. Colborne. Visitation will be this afternoon and this evening in Allen's Funeral Home, 60 Water St., Oxford. There will be no funeral service at the request of the deceased. A private family committal service will be held in Collingwood-Wyvern Cemetery at a later date. Donations may be made to Victorian Order of Nurses or a charity of your choice.
