OBIT - WOOD, Mary, 1940


Oxford, July 19 (Special) - Following an extended period of failing
health, the death occurred early last evening of Mrs. Bedford W. WOOD, a
lady who for many years took a prominent part in church and community
work in this town. Deceased was 69 years of age last April 24th, and
was formerly Miss Mary A. Hannon, daughter of the late James Edward and
Mrs. Hannon, and had lived her entire lifetime in Oxford and vicinity.
She was a member of First Baptist Church, Oxford, and always actively
participated in all organizations of the church, as well as being a
valued and active member of the local Women's Institute and Red Cross
Society, until ill health prevented. Her husband, well known sawmill
operator, died five years ago. Immediate survivors are two sons:
Herman E. Wood, prominent farmer and dairyman, Oxford, and Clayton W.
Wood, of the Oxford and Foundry Machine Company staff. Ten
grandchildren also survive. She is also survived by three brothers:
Isaac, John, and Anthony, all residing in Colorado, and two sisters: Ada
(Mrs. Alvin Smith), Sterling, Colo.; and Effie (Mrs. Walter Lee), Aspen,
Colo. The funeral will be held on Sunday afternoon, with service in the
First Baptist Church at two o'clock, Rev. Harry G. Taylor in charge.
Interment will be made in Pine Grove cemetery, Oxford.
