THOMPSON, Hilda Elizabeth - 84, Springhill, formerly of Oxford and Victoria, Cumberland Co., passed away on Thursday, February 24, 2005, in Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Amherst, with her family by her side. Born in South Victoria, Cumberland Co., she was a daughter of the late N. Lester and Cassie A. (Weeks) Thompson. She was an adherent of Trinity United Church in Victoria, Cumberland Co. She was an avid quilter and knitter, and enjoyed playing cards. Prior to her retirement she was employed as a cook with different construction companies and in logging camps. Surviving are daughter, Helen M. Thompson, Springhill; sisters, Laura J. Needham, London, Ont.; Geneva D. Cloney, Oxford; a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, John G.M. Thompson in 2002; son-in-law, James C. Thompson in 1999; sister, Della Pettigrew; brothers, Norman, Leon, Harold and Gerald Thompson. Visitation will be this afternoon and this evening with a funeral service at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 27, both in Allen's Funeral Home, 60 Water St., Oxford, Rev. Gary MacDougall officiating. Interment will take place in Oxford Pine Grove Cemetery at a later date. Donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice. "Where does a mother's love go when she can no longer be there to give it?"
