FULLERTON (Murray), Doris Adele "Dorrie" - 77, Pugwash, passed away on February 24, 2005, in Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Upper Nappan, after a short illness. Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late John David Jr. and Helen Francis (Scott) Murray. Upon graduating in 1945 from New Glasgow High School, she worked at Henry Birks and Sons Jewellers in Montreal from 1945-1947. After she returned to New Glasgow, she was employed by the Canadian Bank of Commerce on Provost Street as the accountant's assistant until 1958. Dorrie married Ralph Fullerton in 1957 and moved to Pugwash in 1960 where she had been a resident ever since. From 1979-1987, she was employed as a stewardess at the Northumberland Golf & Country Club (NG&CC). As well, Dorrie was employed as a bookkeeper for the North Cumberland Memorial Hospital for 25 years. She was a member of the NG&CC from its beginning days and continued to be an avid golfer at the Northumberland Links to the end of the season last fall. Over the years, Dorrie was the president of the Ladies' Division, was a past ladies' champion, and was the first lady director of the NG&CC. For several years, she was the co-chairperson for the highland dancing at the Gathering of the Clans in Pugwash. She spent hundreds of hours for over 30 years helping behind the scenes with the Pugwash Junior and Senior Badminton Clubs, continued to organize golf tournaments (the Arthritis Society's Texas Scramble, two-ball competitions, and mixed scrambles), and to assist with the scoring of golf tournaments held at the links. Her presence on and around the club will be missed. Dorrie is survived by her husband, Ralph; daughters, Leslee (Mrs. Kevin Patriquin), Nepean, Ont.; Janice (companion of Vaughn Smith, Beckwith), Pugwash; sister, Vera (Mrs. Jack Carruthers), Bedford; granddaughters, Brette Fullerton, Lee and Erin Patriquin; great-granddaughter, Lexus. She will be missed by her canine companion, Sully. She was predeceased by her sisters, Mabel and Helen; brother, Scott. Cremation has taken place. Special thanks are extended to Dr. Greg Gass and Dr. David Forshner and the nurses at North Cumberland Memorial Hospital and to the attending doctors and nurses (especially Carol, ICU) at Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre for their care and compassion. As was Dorrie's wish, there will be no funeral service. Instead, the family will have a gathering of friends to celebrate Dorrie's life in Mundle's Funeral Home, Pugwash, on Monday, February 28, from 6-9 p.m. No flowers please.
