HENWOOD, Ernest F - 76, Amherst, formerly of Parrsboro, passed away suddenly Wednesday, February 16, 2005, in Amherst. Born in Lakelands, he was a son of the late Silas and Annie (Dowe) Henwood. He operated Henwood's Texaco in Crossroads for many years. He was also a trucking and lumbering contractor for both Harrison's and Hanna's. He is survived by his wife, the former Dorothy Ellis; daughters, Donna Melanson (Ralph), River Hebert; Lori Pettigrew, Qualicum, B.C.; Sandra Henwood (Mike Parsons), Amherst; Anne Baker (Clarke Lawrence), Amherst; Cindy DesRoches (Terry Spicer), Amherst; sons, Steven (Dorothy Daborn), Parrsboro; Ronnie (Rebecca), Parrsboro; sister, Mabel Ayer (Wyman), Halfway River; brother, David, New Prospect; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by sister, Vera; brothers, Hedley, Herbert, Albert; grandson, Rodney Melanson. Visitation 7-9 p.m. today and 2-4 p.m. Saturday in Smith's Funeral Home, Parrsboro, where funeral service will be held 4 p.m. Saturday, Rev. Greg Doyle officiating.
