My grandfather was also born in Goose River [Linden], as were the two
previous generations: Milton WOOD, Amos O WOOD, Samuel WOOD. Although I have
quite a few WOODS from Cumberland County in my list there is no Hiram and no
John Nelson.
Since I grew up near there I could perhaps provide some advice in locating
places. Also, the Museum on Church St. in Amherst has useful cemetery lists
and other finding aids.
My mother's people came from near Pugwash and I have some info on that
locality as well. It's near Linden.
The Upper Economy resort you mention isn't known to me but it is not very
handy to Linden/Pugwash. You could stay at a motel in Amherst or a bit more
upscale is Amherst Shore Inn which is very near your interests.
Would you give me a little more on your WOOD line, please? Mine came from
New York as Refugees/Loyalists.
