I'm not 100% certain but I believe you'll find that the 106th Battalion was used only to reinforce other units. Its members, after completing their training, would have been transferred to other battalions for front-line duty.

It was fairly common, especially later in the war, for soldiers to be transferred in and out of various training, reinforcement, holding, and front-line units. Their service number (which was unique to each soldier, much like our SIN numbers are unique to each of us) will help you trace them throughout those various moves.
