MELANSON, Ruth Ann - 59, Springhill, Cumberland Co., passed away peacefully in All Saints Springhill Hospital, Springhill on Tuesday, February 8, 2005, with her family by her side. Born in Amherst, she was a daughter of the late Nordby L. and Jean R. (Allen) Brown. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and worked with her husband at various ventures for 40 years. Surviving are her husband, Douglas E. Melanson; daughter, Angela J. Ward (Tim), Mapleton, Cumberland Co.; son, Norby D. Melanson (Catherine), Springhill; six grandchildren; sister, Sonia Haynes (Will), Bar Harbour, Me.; brother, Philip Brown (Isabelle), Athol, Cumberland Co.; one niece, three nephews and a number of cousins. She was predeceased by daughter, Lisa Jane Knol; grandson, Joshua Knol; brother, Nordby Brown in infancy. Cremation has taken place at the request of the deceased. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until time of funeral service at 2 p.m. on Friday, February 11, both in Allen's Funeral Home, 60 Water St., Oxford, Rev. Edgar Patriquin officiating. Interment will take place in Hillside Cemetery, Springhill, at a later date. Donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of choice.
