Death of Charles E. KERR
Died at Wallace
(Special to the News) Wallace, April 14 - The death occurred at Wallace last
evening of Charles E. KERR, late collector of Customs, Wallace. The deceased
at the time of his death was in his seventy-sixth year of his age. He is
survived by a family of four, two sons in Alberta; and one son and daughter
residing at home. The late Mr. KERR was at one time one of the prominent men
of our county. In politics he was a strong conservative. In religion, he was
a member of the Church of England. The funeral will take place tomorrow
afternoon.

OBITUARY
MR. CHARLES E. KERR
The death occurred at Wallace Bridge on Monday, Apr 13, of Charles E. KERR,
in the 75th year of his age. The deceased had been in failing health for the
past year. He retired in usual his health on Saturday evening and entered
into a deep sleep from which he never awoke and passed peacefully away on
the following Monday afternoon at 5 o'clock. He leaves three sons and one
daughter to mourn the loss of a kind and affectionate father: Ernest and
Edward in Calgary Baron J. and Miss Bell on the homestead. His wife, nee
Miss Elra FLETCHER, predeceased him ten years ago. His familiar figure and
kindly greetings will be much missed at Wallace Bridge, more particularly in
his home, where his hospitality was widely known. In politics he was a
staunch Conservative. In religion a life long member of the Episcopal
Church. The funeral service was conducted by the Rev. Mr. BALLIE of Pugwash,
assisted by Rev. J. L. MacKAY of Wallace.

Charles E. KERR was the grandson of Capt. James KERR 1754 born in
Dumfrieshire, Scotland, son of Thomas KERR, died at age 75 on 6 Jun 1830 in
Amherst, Cumberland Co, NS, who married 10 Jul 1782 in NY Elizabeth BROWN,
b. Mar 1767 New Jersey d/o of John & Margaret [ROZELLE] BROWN d. 14 Apr 1840
in Cornwallis, Kings Co, NS, at age 73. Both Capt. James KERR and his wife
Elizabeth BROWN are buried in Old Burying Grounds, West Amherst, Cumberland
