ATKINSON, William Allison - 89, Amherst, passed away on Saturday, January 29, 2005, in Cumberland Regional Health Care Center, Upper Nappan. Born in West Brook, he was a son of the late Henry and Ada (Nieforth) Atkinson. Bill owned and operated his own trucking business for 56 years in the Amherst area. He supplied coal for many homes in Cumberland County as well as hauling gravel. Bill was an active member of the I.O.O.F. Amherst for many years and held many offices at different times. Bill is survived by his wife, the former Beryl Brown; daughters, Carol (Victor) Wilson, Pomquet; Marilyn (Leon) Comeau, Newcastle, N.B., and Lynn (Randy) Porter, Whitby, Ont.; son, William Jr. (Jen) Atkinson, Whitby, Ont.; brothers, Ernest (Hilda), Amherst; Kenneth (Sarah) and Aubrey (Joyce), both of Truemanville; sister, Eva (Clarence) Reid, Truemanville; grandchildren, great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by twin sister and brother in infancy. Cremation has taken place. Family will receive visitors on Tuesday, February 1, in Campbell's Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst (667-9906) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will take place Wednesday, January 2, at 11 a.m. in Campbell's Chapel with Rev. Patti Blundell officiating. Burial will take place in the spring in West Brook Cemetery.
