Died - Audrey (WILES) PRIEST, 65, Oxford, December 16.
Died - Mrs. Eudora Mabel (NIX) JOHNSON, 79, Collingwood, December 12.
Died - Nellie (BONNELL) JAMIESON, 89, Pugwash, formerly of North
Wallace, December 17.

Thursday, December 19, 1974.

Mrs. Ruth Marie SMITH, 31, of Bridgewater, drowned Sunday afternoon when
the car in which she was a passenger left the Trans Canada Highway and
plunged into Folly Lake. Mrs. Smith's four-year-old daughter died later
in Colchester Hospital.

Mrs. Alfred KING, Kolbec, and her daughter, Mrs. Kenneth O'Brien,
Roslin, suffered minor injuries during a collision with another vehicle
near Shubenacadie on Sunday.

Ritchie MATHESON of Little River managed to pick up $117.77 worth of
groceries and other items during his two-minute shopping spree at Davis
and Swan's IGA Friday night. Ritchie was the lucky winner of the
Shop-a-Thon sponsored by Oxford Area Lionettes.

Aubrey CARTER of Thomson Station is a hospital patient in Amherst
because of head injuries when he fell off a moving asphalt truck and
struck the pavement.

James Laurence HUTCHINSON, 43, and Richard AMBROSE in his early 20s,
both of Moncton, where charged in court Monday with the murder of Cpl.
Aurele BOURGEOIS, 47 and Cst. Michael O'LEARY, 33, Moncton city
policemen, and with the kidnapping of Raymond STEIN, 14, of Moncton.

Died - Archie McARTHUR, 71, Pugwash, December 15.
Died - Renforth SIMPSON, 70. Oxford, December 14.
Died - Mrs. Botsford GILLIS (the former Minetta Lavina EATON), Pugwash,
December 16.

Pte. Andrew James WHEATON, 17, died when shot with a .22 caliber rifle
while hunting near Springhill on December 11.

Rupert T. COLBURN of Stellarton, a native of Oxford Jct., retired from
the CNR after 41 years of service.

Died - Sgt. Peter MacKenzie MACLEAN, 43, elder son of Mrs. Peter F.
MACLEAN, Oxford and the late Mr. MacLean, December 11.
Died - Charles S. SMITH, 78, retired CNR station agent, Tatamagouche,
December 5.
Died - Mrs. Geo A. WILSON, 88, Oxford, December 13.

Thursday, December 14, 1944.

Daniel MCKINNON, Thorburn and Neil MCKINNON, Forest Hills, P.E.I., twin
brothers, celebrated their 100th birthday recently. They were born in
Dundas, PEI, in 1844.

Lt.-Col. Arnold G. MACLELLAN, Amherst, one of the senior officers of
military district No. 6, has retired to civilian life. He was commander
of the NNS Highlanders when the unit was first formed.

Mr. Harry L. DICKIE has opened a tinsmith and plumbing shop in the
building on James St., formerly occupied by W.M. MILLER's meat market.

Capt. H.E. RIPLEY, CIC of River Philip, has been awarded the Canadian
Efficiency Decoration by the Dept. of National Defense, Ottawa.

Died - Margaret KING, 88, Oxford, December 9. One of her early pupils
was Cyrus S. EATON. In honor of his former teacher, Mr. Eaton built and
equipped the Margaret King School at his birthplace, Pugwash Jct.,
several years ago.

Springhill, daughter of Harris and Elizabeth (BOOTH) RECTOR. Husband -
late David MILTON. Children - Ronald, Eileen. Siblings - Russell,
Douglas, Pearl and predeceased by Mary and Hazel.

ANGUS, Wallace Crossfield, 94, Springhill, formerly of Amherst Head,
Tuesday, December 21, 2004. Born in Northport, son of Alex and
Elizabeth (GREENO) ANGUS. Wife - Alice FURLONG. Children - Carolyn.
Siblings - Jean, and predeceased by Marie, Ethel, Elsie, Gerald and
Chandler.

DAWSON, Shawn Anthony, 44, Collingwood, December 21, 2004. Born in
L'Ardoise, Cape Breton, son of Douglas and Claire (BONIN) DAWSON. Wife
- Helen. Children - Darby, Sean. Siblings - Laudwina McKenzie, Philip
Bonin, Steven Dawson, Winston Dawson, Charlie Dawson.

SHIRLEY, Margaret Merle (RECTOR) (THOMPSON), 92, Pugwash. Born in River
Hebert, daughter of Gordon A. and Mamie B. (NUTTALL) RECTOR. Husband -
1st, late David R. THOMPSON. 2nd - late Alton L. SHIRLEY. Children -
Eileen, Gordon, Josephine, David, predeceased by son Charles B.
Thompson. Step-children - Melva, and predeceased by Cleveland and
Bernard Shirley. Siblings - twin sister Georgina, Aileen, and
predeceased by Beatrice, Dorothy and Gordon.
