> Was Amherst Daily News a separate publication?
For over 100 years the Amherst Daily News has served the communities of
Cumberland County.
It began in 1893 under "Amherst Daily News' and then had the addition of the
weekly "The Citizen'''.
The Amherst Daily News and The Citizen, together offer 130 years of combined
experience in the gathering and dissemination of the news in Cumberland
County. On June 5, 2003, Montreal-based Transcontinental purchased the
Amherst Daily News and the Citizen and Sackville Tribune-Post weeklies from
Nova Scotia's Cumberland Publishing and New Brunswick's Sackville
Tribune-Post. I get it delivered to my door M-Sat.
The Chignecto Post newspaper was published earlier still than the Amherst
Daily News. .
I do not know if the McLELLAN index offers the date of publication of the
newspaper's notification of the event or in fact if it the actual date of
the event. The only note that accompanies this index is "Compiled by Ernest
E. COATES , Indexed by C. H. McLELLAN. (The McLELLAN"s index covers a period
which I know exists on microfilm for both papers. The Cumberland County
Museum has the microfilm and I believe that LDS may also have it.
Is this what you were asking in your question ?
