BIRD, Stanley Watson - 88, Queen Street, Springhill, passed away Saturday, January 15, 2005, in All Saints Hospital, Springhill. Born in Southampton, Cumberland Co., he was a son of the late Wesley Watson and Florence (Brown) Bird and was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Most of his working life was spent in the coal mines. He enjoyed gardening, swimming, reading, family and friends. He is survived by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Carman, Jimmy, Lorne, Charlie, Harold, and an infant brother, Wilfred; sisters, Juanita, Margaret, Sylvia, Doris, and Loretta. Visitation will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today in A.H. Brown Funeral Home, Springhill, where the funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 18, with Rev. Danny Compton officiating. Burial in Mapleton Cemetery, Cumberland County, at a later date. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia would be appreciated.
