SPRINGHILL - Mrs. J. Leslie Doncaster, 90, Springhill, formerly of Amherst,
died Monday in Lockhart's Nursing Home, Amherst.
Born in Wentworth, she was the former A. Vira Higgins, a daughter of the
late Ernest and Nellie (Miller) Higgins.
She was a member of the Amherst First Baptist Church. In her younger
years she moved with her parents to Washington, where she received her
education. She came to Amherst in the early 1900s and was employed by the
Amherst Daily News and Black's Printing Company until her marriage in 1916.
She is survived by her husband, Leslie; three daughters, Mrs. Rosamond
Calder and June (Mrs. William Jackson), both of Springhill, and Betty (Mrs.
Lorne Dernier), Fort Lawrence, N.S.; two sons, Gordon and Allan, both of
Amherst, and a sister Jean, of Joggins, 11 grandchildren and five
great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by an infant daughter, Ona Grace.
The body is at Furlong's Funeral Home in Amherst where funeral service
will be held Thursday at 3:30 p.m., Rev. Dr. R.S. Dunn officiating. Burial
in the Highland View Cemetery, Amherst. Memorials to charity of choice.
