LOWTHER, William "Roy" - 71, Cowan Street, Springhill, passed away Saturday, January 8, 2005, in High Crest Nursing Home, Springhill. Born in Springhill, he was a son of the late William Roy Sr. and Stella (Rushton) Lowther. He served with the Canadian Air Force from 1952-1975. He was a member and served on the executive of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 17, Springhill; member of the Springhill Lion's Club and member of Cumberland Lodge No. 5, Knights of Pythias. He enjoyed cards, darts, his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, the former Susan Marie Boss; son, David (Debi) Lowther, Wetaskiwin, Alta.; daughters, Belinda (Benny) Thorne, Trenton; Leslie (Thomas) Kitson, Union Centre; brothers, John "Les" (Ardith) Lowther, Springhill; Charles Lowther, East Port, NL; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, the former Marilyn Henwood. Visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, January 11, in A.H. Brown Funeral Home, Springhill. Funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 12, from St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Springhill, Father David MacDonald officiating. Burial in Hillside Cemetery, Springhill, at a later date. Donations to High Crest Nursing Home, Springhill or charity of choice would be appreciated.
