I am new to this site. A special thankyuou to Dave Winter far all his help re the McDade clan.
Now I could use some help in the following -
I
nformation on William Mahoney, who I belive was a ship captain as was my grandfather Daniel Mahoney, his son. William is buried with his wife Catherine (Purvis) Mahoney in an old Catholic Cemetery in Spencer's Island. William died 10 Jul 1889 at the age of 58. Catherine died Aug 28 1895. The 1871 census shows William born in Ireland and Catherine born in Nova Scotia. William served with the 4th Cumberland Regiment in Leroy Nova Scotia during the Fenian invasion. I have no Information on when William came to NS and would appreciate it if anyone knows from where and when he came from Ireland. His children were all born in Spencer's Island.
Thank you for all your help and happy hunting in 2005.
Dan Mahoney
